Revamped Tea Tin of Doom

Remember this tea tin?

I didn’t like how things were organized inside:

It’s pretty haphazard in there and you have to pull things out and cram them back in there. I also decided it was too big on my counter, so I made a new one. I painted a Christmas cookie tin and tried to use a stencil and then cut-out tape to paint the word on it, but I had to sand and repaint twice and finally just had to do it by hand. I printed the word “Tea” on some paper, cut it out and then traced around it with pencil on the lid. Then hand painted it. The paint job is not that great. Don’t look too closely…

I used a cereal box to make the dividers and covered that with scrapbook paper.

It even fits on the ledge out of the way! Nice!

Wall mounted board

Problem 1: We have an articulated arm lamp that we like for a variety reasons in the office, but it is a floor lamp and is currently ON my desk. That’s two square feet of prime space that I want for my projects.

Solution: Get it off the table by putting it on the wall. To do that, I solved a different problem.

Problem 2: In rearranging, one of my cork/magnetic boards had to be taken down and it needs a new home.

Solution: Remove the lamp from the lamp base and attach it to the board, then mount the board securely on the wall.

It took a little finagling but I got the lamp on the board finally and up on the wall – I think it looks great! I also took the opportunity to put up some decorative shelves for photos. The space is really starting to come together!

Echocardiogram

My poor sweet stoned baby (sedated for medical exam).

For this extensive Echocardiogram, his Cardiologist decided he should be sedated so they could be certain to get all the pictures they wanted. He giggled at the ultrasound wand thing being rubbed on his belly and chest and kept trying to put the technician’s fingers in his mouth. The anesthesiologist gave him graham crackers – one for each hand – which he gnawed on. It took him until the next day to really get back to himself.

The results were great, though! His ASD has nearly closed making him “like 30% of the rest of the world” (according to the cardiologist) and will begin being weaned from his Sildenafil. She did want one more Echocardiogram in three months after he’s had plenty of time to get off the medicine and reach a new “normal”. But good news!
